Nominee must be a current Dunloggin Middle School PTA member for the 2018-2019 school year. If you are interested, and are not a member of the DMS PTA, there is still time to become a member - fill out a membership form at http://www.dunlogginmspta.org/join.html. May 28, 2019 is deadline to submit nomination forms and statements (We’ve extended the deadline). Letters of Interest and Nomination Form must be mailed to and received at the following address or emailed to Nominations@dunlogginmspta.org on or before May 28, 2019. Elections June 6, 2019. ******************************************************************* DMS PTA Sponsored Activities - Cultural Arts The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is at DMS this month for our annual Eighth Grade Shakespeare Residency! This is the fifth year we have had this fantastic residency at our school, we are so fortunate! The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Teaching Artists will work closely with our eighth graders for the next two weeks! This wonderful opportunity for our school was made possible by the DMS PTA and the Howard County Arts Council through a grant from Howard County Government! Thank you for supporting enrichment programs for DMS students. ******************************************************************* Spring Spirit Wear Sale - Orders Deadline Tuesday, May 28 Spirit wear is on sale. Show your DMS spirit this spring with colorful Tie-Dye t-shirts. Order forms are available for download on PTA Website. Make checks payable to DMS PTA. Submit orders in envelope labeled PTA Spirit Wear by TUESDAY 5/28/19. Delivery to classroom on week of June 3rd. Questions? Volunteers are required for the day of the event. We would like assistance from someone in the DMS Community who has the knowledge/skills to assess our current situation and provide options. You would be working with our Communications/Website volunteer on this need. Note This is not a paid position, volunteer only. Which grade will be released first to Fun Day? The grade with the most Box Tops collected will be released first to Fun Day. Drop off your Box Tops to the front office. Remember to put them in an envelope or plastic bag and write YOUR NAME and GRADE on the outside (otherwise you will not get credit.) If you turn in Box Tops you will be entered into a raffle to win one of 10 individual prizes of $3 worth of Fun Day tickets. Same items, same pricing, but DMS gets the donation! *************************************************************** Community Events ‘Angst’ Follow up and Listening Sessions - May 23 and June 5 Thanks to all community members who attended the ‘Angst’ screenings. There were 1,500 people present to watch Angst over the course of the 4 screenings! People completed evaluations as they left the screenings, with questions asking things like “ What was the most valuable part of the event?” and “What are other things you are concerned about as a parent?”. Some of the top concerns parents had were around Social media, Stress, Anxiety, Sleep(or lack thereof), Test Anxiety and School. If you are able attend, join one of the two nights, to really dive deep into what is most concerning for you as a parent/guardian/student to learn around mental health. It is sad that it had to be cancelled, but there is nothing much that we can do. I mean, this health crisis is one of the biggest disasters of this year. We can just postpone this for another time. In my opinion, it is a lot more important that we try and do things that are better for ourselves. In my opinion, if we can do that, then that would make this pandemic go away a lot quicker, don't you think?
