SAVE A LIFE - Question. Persuade. Refer (QPR) FREE TRAINING, DMS, MAY 7 @ 7 PM
Did you know that, according to the United States Center for Disease Control, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people 10-34 and the 4th leading cause for people age 35-54?
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR is a basic suicide prevention gatekeeper training designed for individuals who do not have training/experience in suicide intervention.
On May 7 at 7 pm Grassroots will present FREE QPR training open to both students and parents at the Dunloggin Middle School Media Center. This topic addresses emotionally sensitive subject matter, so students must be at least 10 years old to attend. Seating is limited to 60, so secure your seat by clicking here:

School year. Nominee should be familiar with the bylaws governing the PTA, as well as the basic

Gently Used Book Drive
The PTA is collecting books to benefit a nearby Title I school. We are looking for gently used books for preschool through middle aged students. Books can be dropped off in the collection boxes at school from April 22 through May 17. If you would like books picked up from your house, please email debslater@verizon.net. The books will be given to local students who might not have many books at home, for summer reading.
*******************************************************************
FUN Day - Friday, June 14 (during school hours)
The PTA is collecting $5 gift cards to be used for the Dragon Dollar Raffle and our “Gift Card Walk”.  The Gift Card Walk works the same way as a “Cake Walk”. Students stand on a number and the volunteer spins the wheel. The student standing on the number the wheel lands on gets a $5 gift card. We want to keep the gift card wheel spinning for two hours on Fun Day – so we need as many gift cards as possible. Let’s say the wheel spins every 2 minutes – that’s 30 winners/hour, or at least 60+ winners for all of Fun Day.
Any donations of $5 gift cards that you think a middle schooler would enjoy (Rita’s, Subway, Target, Amazon, iTunes, Walmart, Dunkin Donuts, Chipotle, Sweet Frog, Movie Tickets, Shake Shack) would be much appreciated.
Send in your gift cards to the front office in an envelope labeled “Fun Day – PTA /Jill Sommer” Questions? Contact Jill at jillsommer@hotmail.com.
We still need help in these areas --
  • We are also collecting prizes for the Dragon Dollar Raffle -  students use the Dragon Dollars they have earned and saved throughout the year for the chance to win fabulous prizes (gift cards too). We are working hard to collect as many prizes as possible. If you have a prize that you would like to donate, please contact Kathleen Corley at 1happybusymom@gmail.com.
  • We will need volunteers for the day of the event!  Contact Laura at lauramciccone@gmail.com
Thank you for your help!
Any more questions... contact Liz at elizabethawysocki@gmail.com
