Refer (QPR) FREE TRAINING, DMS, MAY 7 @ 7 PM Did you know that, according to the United States Center for Disease Control, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people 10-34 and the 4th leading cause for people age 35-54? QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR is a basic suicide prevention gatekeeper training designed for individuals who do not have training/experience in suicide intervention. On May 7 at 7 pm Grassroots will present FREE QPR training open to both students and parents at the Dunloggin Middle School Media Center. This topic addresses emotionally sensitive subject matter, so students must be at least 10 years old to attend. Seating is limited to 60, so secure your seat by clicking here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D4CACA82FA0FB6-qprtraining ******************************************************************* Panera - Restaurant Night - April 29 - 6-9 PM Hey Dragons, join us for our April DMS PTA Restaurant Night at Panera on Monday, April 29 from 6-9 PM. The Gift Card Walk works the same way as a “Cake Walk”. Students stand on a number and the volunteer spins the wheel. The student standing on the number the wheel lands on gets a $5 gift card. We want to keep the gift card wheel spinning for two hours on Fun Day – so we need as many gift cards as possible. Let’s say the wheel spins every 2 minutes – that’s 30 winners/hour, or at least 60+ winners for all of Fun Day. Any donations of $5 gift cards that you think a middle schooler would enjoy (Rita’s, Subway, Target, Amazon, iTunes, Walmart, Dunkin Donuts, Chipotle, Sweet Frog, Movie Tickets, Shake Shack) would be much appreciated. Send in your gift cards to the front office in an envelope labeled “Fun Day – PTA /Jill Sommer” Questions? Contact Jill at jillsommer@hotmail.com. We still need help in these areas --
